ZARON HEALTHY GLOW FOUNDATION

September 06, 2017 Unknown 3 Comments

Hello Beauties,
So I decided that I’ll be doing a foundation series and this was inspired by my sister. I always get asked Ngozi which foundation should I use? Have you tried this foundation? What colour of foundation should I get? Will it be good on my skin? So in order to be able to give good quality advice I decided to start this series. I’ll pick a foundation and try it out for a week then write my review. I’ll be dropping a foundation check  review once every month so that I have time to test the  next one; so this series would obviously work best if you can suggest what foundation I should try next, that way I’ll be reviewing what you would like to see.
First up on the series I will be reviewing the zaron healthy glow foundation. When I thought about this series I thought to myself what better way pf starting out this series than trying one of our very own Nigerian brand foundations. Now prior to this moment I have only ever tried one of the zaron face products and that was their mattfying primer which did absolutely nothing for me, it was a complete let down. It did nothing for my combo skin; my foundation didn’t even make it to me finishing the makeup. I would get oily all over my face and my makeup would shift so I didn’t have high hopes for this foundation but let’s get to review.
PACKAGING:
It comes in a black tube container. The foundation comes out from a tiny press tube hole. The black tube has a matte finish to it and at the back contains the list of ingredients in the foundation.

APPLICATION:
This foundation comes out with a slightly thick consistency and requires a little bit more blending than my other foundation for an evenly smooth blended application. For blending in my foundation I usually tend to start with a flat top angle brush and finish with a blender. The foundation blended nicely with the brush and the beauty blender: another point to note which is difficult to miss is that the foundation has a nice scented smell, it doesn’t smell bad or anything off like that it has more of a perfumed scent to it. If scents bother you than you might not like it, the scent intensity is medium meaning it’s not  too strong.

COVERAGE
Now the foundation claims to be a medium to full coverage foundation and I found this to be true. This foundation did an incredible job with a single layer it covered my acne scaring well without a concealer or a colour corrector. I got it in the shade FZ35 which is the darkest shade and that is my biggest problem with this foundation. Now I know I’m dark skin but there are still a lot more darker shades out there than me and if FZ35 is their darkest shade then it doesn’t accommodate a lot more darker shades. The foundation comes in 5 shades FZ10, FZ15, FZ20 FZ25 and FZ35 so from here you can see I got it in the darkest shade which wasn’t my exact shade. It looked lighter than my skin tone and not in a flattering matching it to my body type of way; I tried to work with it by covering it with my powder. My le major let down is that a Nigerian brand creating its own foundation you would think they would nail the shade range well but no; they definitely missed it here.
FINISH: This foundation claims to be a matte foundation but in my opinion it has a more velvety matte finish than matte. After blending the foundation in it does take a while to set and has a tacky sticky feel to it after application before it sets which goes away after the foundation sets. Like I mentioned this is a full coverage foundation and if you’re all about the natural finish this foundation is not for you as it isn’t lightweight.
WEAR: I wore this foundation twice once without primer and the other time with primer for about 8hrs each times and both times even with the primer after about 2hrs I start to get noticeably oily around my t-zone areas majorly and around my cheeks and jaws and I don’t like how it looks. The oils just sit on my face and I have to proceed to blotting. It doesn’t shift throughout the day or settle into the lines on my face or crease badly which is good.

PROS
1.       Good full coverage
2.      Affordable
3.      Buildable
4.      Doesn’t crease and settle into lines.
5.      Fairly decent wear time
CONS
1.       Not impressive shade range
2.      Thick consistency
3.       Looks heavy when oily

WHERE TO BUY: I got mine from spar shopping mall at illupeju but they can be bought at any zaron store or online here for N4750.

Have you tried the zaron healthy glow foundation or any of their products let me know in the comments section below

BEAUTY KINK FAUX MINK LASHES REVIEW

July 21, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hello Beauties,
So I recently ordered some lashes from the newly launched Beauty Kink lash line and I want to share.
Wearing lashes is definitely one of those things I dreaded wearing for the longest time because it was just a hassle but now , yes now I wear them like snapping my fingers isn’t that cool. It took a very long time and practice.
I got these lashes because honestly it looked really pretty and I’m such a sucker for pretty. I got two styles from their faux mink collection.
The lashes comes in a cartoon slip out pack with clear transparent case.

Miss saucy:   Simple flattering everyday lashes.

When I got this lashes I thought because of how it looked from the case it would be boring, oh was I mistaken there is nothing boring about this lashes. It has a natural simplistic wispiness that makes it natural yet glam it’s my everyday go to lashes, like I’ve been wearing them almost every day ever since I got them.
Miss FAB:  dramatic lashes

There is nothing simplistic about this style step into full on glamour with this pair of lashes .

PROS: The lash bands are slim and flexible which allows for easy placement.
The lashes are made from faux mink hair and are very soft.
These lashes are very lightweight without feeling heavy on the eyes.
Very pretty packaging .
Reusable.
Very pretty and affordable.
CONS: NONE

I love these lashes they are flattering and reusable. It also has a thin lash band which is what I look for because it gives a more realistic look and it’s not so heavy on the eyes. I have already worn one of them and I’m impressed.

MAKEUP TIP 101 - FLAWLESS SKIKN

July 07, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hello Beauties today I’m going to be sharing with the number secret to flawless makeup, can you guess what it might be????? Let me give you a clue it has nothing to do with makeup. You might be wondering how flawless make-up has nothing to do with makeup.
Well then have you ever heard of this saying flawless skin equates to flawless makeup there were not wrong. The key to flawless makeup is to take good and proper care for your skin. Let’s take the skin to be the canvas and we the artist wouldn’t you rather work on a clean canvas then a dirty one. That then brings us to the number tip – ALWAYS MOISTURIZE. Now the essence of a moisturizer is to keep your skin supple and hydrated. After washing our faces both day and night we strip the skin off of its natural moisture so hence we have to balance that with a moisturizer.

The skin produces its natural moisturizer or oil sebum which helps in protecting the skin, now if your skin has too little of this sebum you’ll end up will dry patchy skin and on the other hand if you have too much you will be battling with acne. Like in all things it is essential to find the balance. Have you ever wondered why after applying your foundation it looks patchy well one of the reasons could be that you have a patchy skin and that’s an indicator to start moisturizing.

Now the keynote to take from moisturizing is to keep it in balance, what this simply means is to do this according to your skin type. If you have an oily combination skin then you should be looking for oil free moisturizers whereas if you have dry skin look for an oil based moisturizer but remember never get lost with people calling out so called big named brands. In skincare the golden rule is to use what works best for you

The moisturizer I’ve been using for ages now, close to 5 years and counting is the Neutrogena oil/combination oil free moisturizer. The formulation of moisturizer is so lightweight it doesn’t feel heavy and it leaves your skin feeling supple. Like I said I’ve been using it for a very long time and it’ something I really recommend.

NUBAN BEAUTY INTENSIFY PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

June 22, 2017 Unknown 2 Comments

Hello beauties,
So I recently ordered some items from Nuban beauty and I thought to share.
This post is on the intensify eye shadow palette I ordered from the site and I can tell you that from the moment I saw the promotional pictures on Instagram I instantly fell in love, funny enough I didn’t see the promo pictures for this particular palette it was their obsession palette I was going to get till I saw this palette on their website. This palette looked to me like more of a wearable everyday palette because the range of shades has more of neutral warm tones of browns and oranges, whereas the obsession palette had more of fun colours like blues, yellows and greens and this was what prompted my decision for this palette. Now even though I wanted to get the two I wanted to really check out this palette first and if it was a hit go back for the obsession palette because that palette as well looked beautiful. Point to note this is my first time trying Nuban beauty even though I’m aware they’ve been around for a long time and its co-CEO is the makeup maestro herself jane ogu of flawlessfacesbyjane

PACKAGING
One word BEAUTIFUL, can you see I had to write the beautiful in caps locks well that is because it is truly beautiful. This is hands down the best packaging I’ve seen for a Nigerian owned brand, they surely worked on this one well. This palette packaging just oozes style and class and their packaging can even be compared to what we see from foreign brands so for that I have to truly commend them. I just love the fact that they thought to do something extra for their packaging. The palette came much secured, it was wrapped in bubble wraps and the palette itself was sealed in a transparent nylon; talk about secured right!!! The bubble wrap is to save you from any story from the gods kind of stories about the eye shadow breaking on transit, in essence one word again SECURED. The eyeshadow palette comes with a slip out cartoon cover with the branding and product information on the back of the cartoon. The palette itself is also made of cartoon material. The palette comes with a mirror and a dual ended eyeshadow brush.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
I will start this with the palette size. The palette is quite large I actually found myself having to rearrange my makeup storage to make room for it. The palette also comes with a large sized mirror to fit about 80% of the entire palette like!!!! So nice right, I love me some large mirror.
Now moving to the eye shadows in the palette, the palette comes with 25 various eye shadow shades with individual names ranging from oranges to browns to pinks to purples to gold to copper. The colour range in this palette leans to more of warm toned neutrals with oranges, pinks, champagne gold, silvers and much more. I love the shade range though; it is versatile enough to create various looks. There aren’t much of vivid neon bright colours in this palette. The texture of this palette ranges from mattes to shimmer to satin.  The palette contains 7 matte shades and 18 shimmer shades.

APPLICATION
The application and colour payoff of these eye shadows are quite impressive, but wait what I am actually saying is that it’s AMAZE-BALLS!!!(Amazing) The matte eye shadows are so smooth, soft to touch and very finely milled. They apply with intense colour payoff and blend out very well. The shimmer eye shadows are just as smooth, soft to touch and very finely milled.
Top 2 rows (L-R): kamisi, ivie, kaira, funmi, amaka, neso, lola, mngu, ene ,muna
Third and fourth row( L-R): Dana, Zainab, Zara, Nma, Chisom,Obong, Binta,Fatima,Oluchi,Kayria
Fifth row (L-R):Nica, Ekaette,Laide,Lamide,Ronke

PRICE
This palette retails for N13000 and it is available for purchase on their website here.
MY VERDICT
I LOVE this palette talk about quality and affordability all in one. The eyeshadows are great; the colour payoff, the smoothness, the blend-ability (made up word) of these eyeshadows are AMAZE-BALLS. I would definitely recommend this to anyone; my only drawback to this palette is the number of matte shades. I would have preferred more matte shades other than that the palette is a major WIN.

GLITTER LOVE- FBC GLITTER PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

May 27, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hi Beauties,
Glitter, glitter and more glitter now I’m sure I’m not the only one with a glitter obsession so I’m excited for this review and I’m sure you are too. I love how glitter has the ability to turn any makeup to something extra special and add a little umph!! No wonder there is a whole range of glitter selection now, from loose glitter to pressed glitter even liquid glitter like the stilla ones. The FBC glitter palette is from a Nigerian owned makeup brand based in Ibadan called FBC beauty, they have other products under their belt like their newly released brow definer, brow gel and eyeliners and although I don’t have any information on the brand owner it’s always a pleasure to support our own. Now with any further ado I’m going to be breaking it down for you, so sit down and enjoy.

PACKAGING
The FBC palette packaging is very basic, there is no name branded to the palette and it just comes in a carton like box with the brand name there, other than that there isn’t any other branding. There are no names assigned to the individual shades of glitter. I did however see recently from the company’s instagram page that they have now named their glitter shades with individual names. The palette comes in a black rectangle box with slot for 12 shades of glitter and a mirror. Overall not impressed about the packaging, there’s no form of branding whatsoever. The plastic box it comes in is quite sturdy and it doesn't feel light like its made from cheap plastic you know like the plastic hand fan type.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
So there wasn’t any product description on the palette but from their instagram post, the company claims that their glitters are 3D glitters that don’t need any application of glitter adhesive for the glitters to be worn and when applied there are no fall outs.
My opinion however doesn’t much differ from what they claim except in one regard and I will get to that soon. The glitters are true to be 3D glitters and all that simply means is that apart from their primary colour they give out secondary colours when light hit them from various angles. So for instance, they have gold and silver reflects in them so they don’t just give out one colour.

Second row
Third row
APPLICATION
The glitter particles are small and they apply smoothly. Now to their claim of wearing them without glitter adhesive I am not entirely sure. I did swatch them on my hands using my fingers and they applied well without any glitter adhesive, now I’m sure we all know that depending on the look you are creating is what determines the amount of glitter you use. In my opinion however if you are just going for a touch of glitter then you can go ahead without a glitter adhesive, but I if u are going for full on glitter it is advisable to use some glitter adhesive. I used the glitter palette without any glitter adhesive and there were little fallout but it was barely noticeable BUT here is why I advise using a glitter adhesive, I found out then when I applied the glitter with some glitter glue it made application much easier, without the glitter glue most of the glitter just stuck to the brush but with a glitter glue there wasn’t any of that, I just applied in patting motion on the lids and it transferred much easier. Now it applied better because with the glitter adhesive there was extra liquid which made placing of the glitters easier. Finally they were not wrong to say it can be worn without glitter adhesive, but personally I would be using glitter adhesive for this one.
PRICE
For pricing, I am very pleased with the price for this palette. I bought my palette during their Easter sale for N6400 with shipping N1000 bringing it at a total of N7400, but originally it goes for N8000. So for 12 shades of glitter you get each individual shade going for approximately N670. For the quality of the palette I think that’s decent and that’s another reason to enjoy buying Nigerian, no more cut throat prices just because u want to wear glitter isn’t that amazing.

OVERALL VERDICT
I say verdict because it has been tried and tested. This palette has my overall approval, the colours are beautiful, the quality also is very good and it can be worn without a primer (even if I won’t wear it without a primer though, just my preference), the price is affordable. The palette has my all round approval and I would definitely recommend it for glitter lovers like myself. I would rate it an 9/10; the deducted point is because I didn’t like the packaging.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BRAND
Now I’ve decided to add this bit because I feel it’s important to recognize good customer service. In Nigerian I can say some though not all lack this very vital trait for their business and especially since I ordered this product via instagram I feel it’s important to know what to expect if you do decide to buy this product because even though there are legit businesses there are also fake ones. Now like I said I ordered this during the Easter holiday via instagram DM and I was attended to promptly and very polite, I did want my package shipped using GIG Logistics and I was told whatever the delivery price set by GIG Logistics is what I would have to pay for delivery. The company did have a N1000 standard charge using buses because it ships from Ibadan, but I wanted tracking information plus I wanted something that would be close to my house. The package didn’t however ship till a week and a half after cause she told me she was busy the Tuesday after Easter and won’t be able to ship it immediately; she did however offer to refund my money if I couldn’t wait. I decided to wait and it was shipped the next week. In all I had a good experience with the brand, I would definitely order from them again

That’s my review on this beautiful glitter palette. I would like to know what your favorite color is. And have you tried the FBC glitter palette or any of their products, what did you think of them????
